The After at Quivira: Cabo’s Top Sports Bar

The NHL celebrated the start of its hockey season with a tripleheader earlier this month. Pro basketball fans can’t wait for the NBA regular season to get underway. College basketball games will soon follow. And the Champions League, Europe’s elite competition for football (soccer) clubs, kicked off in September.

Quivira Residents need look no further than The After at Quivira, a stylish urban-themed bar and restaurant designed expressly for avid sports fans.

Occupying a spacious indoor-outdoor space attached to The Market, a bustling food hall adjoining Sunset Beach that offers a diverse array of casual eateries, The After at Quivira is outfitted with 10 oversize flat-screen TVs linked to multiple satellite dishes. Day and night, there is literally something on for every sports fan. 

The After was conceived by Jeffrey Beers International (JBI), a leader in innovative architecture and design for the upscale hospitality industry. Large round brass chandeliers, illuminated globes, backlit glass bottles behind the bar, and crescent-patterned Italian flooring accentuate the space. 

For those who wish to take a break from the action, an L-shaped wraparound terrace offers fresh air, ocean views and comfortable seating. Complimentary Wi-Fi service is available in The After, as are cell phone chargers.

The After’s well-stocked bar carries more than 100 labels of distilled spirits—including top-shelf tequila and mezcal—and several different styles of artisanal beers are served on draft. The specialty cocktail menu features creative takes on classics ranging from hand-crafted Mojitos to premium Margaritas. 

On the menu, sports fans will find classic American pub fare and comfort food with a Mexican twist. Starters include Flamin’ Hot Popcorn, Shrimp Wontons, and “Legendary” Chicken Wings. Two soups, three types of nachos, a trio of burger sliders and hearty sandwiches are also available. Main dishes include Baby Back Ribs and Steak Frites. Turtle Cake (with caramel) and Carrot Cake (with praline pecans and butterscotch sauce) are The After’s top desserts.   

After 11:00 p.m., at time when most sporting events are concluded, the bar morphs into a social hub with special theme nights, including music of the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. For intimate gatherings, a private event space is available by reservation. 

The After is open Monday to Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Closed on Tuesday.
