Sensational Summer Events in the Los Cabos Area

Los Cabos has evolved into a year-round destination. While the snowbirds are long gone, Cabo’s summer seasons offers a plethora of interesting events and activities to suit every taste.

Here’s our pick of the highlights.

Tequila Tasting Experience at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort (Wednesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.). Kicked off on July 2, the resort’s “Maestro Tequilero” (tequila expert) takes imbibers through the history of tequila and its production. Participants learn how to taste and enjoy different types of tequila (from blanco to extra-anejo)—and also learn about the type of agave used to make tequila (blue Weber), the key region where it’s produced (Jalisco), and more. An authentic Mexican heritage experience!

Chef al Fuego at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort (Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.). Inaugurated on July 3, this exceptional three-course dinner features panoramic ocean views and a chef’s station where everything is cooked al fuego (to the fire). A team of skilled chefs grills meats and seafood over leaping flames, enlivening the evening. Red and white wine is included, as is Chef al Fuego’s signature flamed coffee.

Ivan Guaderrama’s Interactive Living Art (Thursdays, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.). Located in the historic quarter of San Jose del Cabo’s Gallery District, art mavens can immerse themselves in the magic of Ivan Guaderrama's Interactive Art Gallery. Here art and innovation merge, bringing each of the artist’s stories to life through touch and technology. A unique and vibrant experience.

Jazz on the Rocks (recurring daily, 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.). Located above the Sunset Monalisa restaurant, this venue features lovely views of Cabo’s iconic sea arch at Land’s End as well as fabulous sunset views. The club fuses live jazz music by top performers plus gastropub cuisine in the first (and only) jazz venue in Cabo San Lucas.

Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo (July 14 – 19). Ranked among the most prominent tennis events in Latin America, the ninth edition of the Los Cabos Tennis Open expects to attract a star-studded field. This ATP World Tour 250 series event will be held at the Cabo Sports Complex (CSC), a multifunctional arena renowned for its comfort and visibility. Designed to blend into the desert, the CSC has seating for 3,500 in its main stadium.

Brunch Weekends at Oystera (recurring weekly on Saturday, Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). Occupying a reconstructed 19th-century sugar mill in Todos Santos, Oystera features a la carte brunch options such as Drowned Eggs, Chicken & Waffles, and the restaurant’s famous “Arm Drip Sandwich.” A Bottomless Brunch (open bar for two hours and a full family-style menu) are also available at this pet-friendly establishment. Oystera’s flagship Bloody Mary’s are highly recommended.

Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore (July 29 - August 2). Seventy-eight teams will compete for a total purse of $1.7 million at the 25th anniversary of this popular fishing tournament held in Buenaventura. In addition to marlin (blue, black and striped), the quarry includes dorado, tuna, sailfish, and spearfish, each a prized catch in sport fishing circles. There’s also a ‘catch-and-release’ division for anglers who wish to release fish they catch once they’re recorded.

Todos Santos Mango Festival (July 31 – August 2). Since its inception in 2007, families have flocked to the Todos Santos Mango Festival to celebrate the sweetest produce of summer –mangoes! Authentic traditions are observed: a parade of horsemen (cabalgata) handled by Todos rancheros, folkloric ballet, live music, mango-themed treats (including mangate, a local dessert), and coronation of the Mango Festival Queen. Admission is free.

Creative Activities for Kids. Summer is a time for fun, relaxation and creating family memories, but parents often find it difficult to keep kids entertained during the long hot days of summer. To the rescue is La Casa de la Cultura in La Paz, which organizes indoor options designed to keep little ones engaged, educated and entertained. With an array of high-quality summer courses aimed at youngsters (girls and boys alike), La Casa de la Cultura’s programs provide junior attendees with a deeper understanding of artistic and cultural disciplines.
