Celebrate Day of the Dead in Style at Quivira Los Cabos

Observed each year on November 1st and 2nd, the celebration coincides with All Saints' and All Souls’ Days. Across the country, communities come alive with color, music, parades, and symbolic altars known as ofrendas. At Quivira Los Cabos, guests and residents are invited to experience this beautiful tradition through a series of special events that blend culture, cuisine, and creativity.

Quivira Beach Club: Family Fun on the Shore
On November 2nd, the exclusive Beach Club will transform into a vibrant hub of Day of the Dead festivities for all ages. The event will feature a lively Mexican kermes, complete with:

  • Antojitos (savory street snacks),
  • Pan de muerto (sweet, anise-flavored bread traditionally baked for the holiday),
  • And decadent hot chocolate.

Adding to the festive atmosphere will be live saxophone music and a special appearance by El Catrín, the elegantly dressed male counterpart to the famed La Catrina, a beloved Day of the Dead icon.

Quivira Steakhouse: Honoring Tradition with Food and Flame
A more immersive and reflective celebration will take place at Quivira Steakhouse, where guests will be invited to contribute to the creation of a grand altar de muertos. This community-built ofrenda will serve as a space to honor the departed with traditional offerings representing the four elements:

  • Water – A pitcher to quench spirits’ thirst
  • Wind – Colorful papel picado banners
  • Earth – Food, especially pan de muerto
  • Fire – Candles placed in a cross formation to guide spirits

Chef Oscar Quesada will elevate the evening with a curated menu featuring seasonal and symbolic ingredients such as figs, piloncillo (Mexican brown sugar), pomegranates, bananas, and pumpkin blossoms—each dish thoughtfully crafted to honor the spirit of the occasion.

Culinary Celebrations at Pueblo Bonito Resorts
In addition to the events at Quivira’s private venues, Pueblo Bonito Resorts within the development will host their own Day of the Dead experiences:

  • At LaFrida Restaurant, award-winning Chef Anaisa Guevara will present a special dinner inspired by Frida Kahlo, with themed décor including marigolds and sugar skulls.
  • Aquabar Villa 40 at Sunset Beach will come alive with a Menu Mexicana, mariachi music, fireworks, and traditional dance on Nov. 2 from 5:00–10:00 p.m.
  • Pueblo Bonito Pacifica will feature a beachfront celebration with interactive food stations, a parade of brightly colored alebrijes, live entertainment, and a traditional altar ceremony.
  • Montecristo Estates will offer a gourmet three-course dinner featuring Mexican superfoods like amaranth and pumpkin seeds, plus a special cempasúchil (marigold) cocktail and live music by Luna Itzel.

From beachside gatherings and gourmet feasts to heartfelt tributes and vibrant altars, Quivira Los Cabos and Pueblo Bonito offer an unforgettable way to honor Día de los Muertos. Let the celebrations begin!
