Best Dining Experiences at Pueblo Bonito Resorts and its Environs

The Pueblo Bonito Resorts within Quivira Los Cabos continue to set the pace for food and beverage trends in Los Cabos. In addition, a trio of innovative restaurants in and around Cabo San Lucas ensures that Cabo will continue to be one of the hottest culinary destinations in Latin America.

Here’s the round-up:

La Frida. Named for iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, the premier restaurant at Sunset Beach is a candlelit dining room where creativity and cutting-edge cuisine take center stage. The room’s visual elements form a rich tapestry that reflect LaFrida’s culinary mission: elevate traditional Mexican recipes and flavors with modern techniques. The Blue Corn Shrimp Gorditas, a signature appetizer, are highly recommended, while Lamb Picana, Duck, and Black Oaxaca Mole, and Glazed Short Rib are among the top entrees. With its live piano music and Kahlo-themed décor, LaFrida is a feast for the senses as well as the palate.

Peninsula. Pacifica’s gastronomic star is Peninsula, a stylish restaurant featuring regional Baja cuisine. Offering panoramic views of the sea, sky, and beach, Peninsula, now in its 10th year, features several new dishes on its revised menu. The Salt selections, led by the Cured Yellow Tail & Seabass Tiradito, reflect “the flavor of the coastline—pickled notes, smoke, and salt that honor the peninsula’s marine soul.” The Terroir items are drawn from coastal farms and gardens, while the Dialect of Fire portion of the menu offers grilled and oven-baked entrees.

Quivira Steakhouse. Ask around: Quivira’s golf clubhouse restaurant ranks among the best steakhouses in Cabo. A beachfront outpost with indoor as well as outdoor seating within earshot of the surf, the chef and his team turn out superlative steaks cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill. Seven sauces (from béarnaise to creamy habanero chili) and seven sides (led by sweet potato puree topped with walnuts) are available. The restaurant’s award-winning wines were chosen to complement the robust flavors of the Certified Angus Beef Prime quality steaks.

Fellini’s. A guest-favorite Ristorante at Pueblo Bonito Rose, Fellini’s delivers savory Italian cuisine, with indoor and patio dining available. Tops on the antipasto list is Tavolo d’ Mes: Italian cheeses and charcuterie, homemade compote, artichokes, and olives marinated with thyme.  Main courses range from a superb lasagna bolognese (with pomodoro sauce and Parmigiano reggiano) to a slow-cooked Gremolata Lamb Ossobuco (with creamy potato and lavender, sautéed asparagus). Fellini’s selection of Italian wines (both red and white) is one of the best in Los Cabos.

Here are three notable dining options in and around Cabo San Lucas:

La Lupita. Renowned for its tacos, this casual restaurant, a fixture in San Jose del Cabo’s historic district, opened a second establishment in Cabo San Lucas near Medano Beach a few years ago. Expect eclectic appetizers, excellent guacamole, and a superb tortilla soup with shrimp broth. As for the tacos (there are 12 on the menu), they range from traditional to only-at-La-Lupita. The accompanying sauces are a knock-out. The mezcal-based cocktails are first-rate. Save room for dessert: the flan Mexicano and churros are winners. Open for lunch and dinner.

AMARA. Opened in December 2025, this splendid newcomer is located off the Transpeninsular Highway’s eastbound access road. Part of the Sunset Monalisa group, AMARA, set on a hill overlooking the sea, offers a culinary journey highlighting the “Authentic Flavors of the Baja.” The menu’s map of the Baja Peninsula shows where the ingredients for each dish are sourced. The roasted salad is a triumph, while the grilled entrees, from the suckling pig to the seafood specials, are outstanding. Superb wine list, great cocktails.

Farol 16. Tucked away in Plaza Pioneros, a shopping mall in Cabo San Lucas, this newly relocated restaurant is a sleeper. Headed by an Argentinian chef, Farol 16 takes its cue from South American, Middle Eastern, and European cuisines. The Dip & Foccacia trilogy—babaganoush, tapenade, hummus—is a good appetizer to share, as are the empanadas. For entrees, the fish, meat, and homemade pasta dishes offer flavorsome takes on the usual fare. The Blue tiger shrimp (with potato millefeuille and lemongrass jus) is a house favorite. There’s also an eight-course tasting menu, complemented by a good selection of wines from Argentina and Chile.
