5 Must-Try Restaurants at Quivira Los Cabos

Pueblo Bonito Resorts at Quivira Los Cabos are setting the pace for culinary trends in one of the hemisphere’s hottest destinations.  Here are five of our “must try” on-property restaurants:

Peninsula

The culinary star of Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is Peninsula, a gourmet restaurant featuring regional Baja cuisine. Known for its panoramic views of the sea, sky and sand, Peninsula emphasizes local ingredients, starting with fresh juices, smoothies and toasted coconut pancakes (with spice rum syrup) at breakfast; and small plates at lunch, led by crispy ‘chocolate’ clams served with mango salsa and plantain chips. The dinner menu features an organic farm salad, hot and cold appetizers (the grilled octopus is exceptional), and entrees ranging from olive-crusted local tuna to slow-roasted short ribs. The stylish Peninsula Lounge offers a superb array of artisanal cocktails and a menu of its own.

Siempre

Completely updated last year with new interior décor and furnishings, this unique circular indoor / outdoor restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica offers Mediterranean-style cuisine accented with Mexican flavors. Wellness-oriented spa dishes are also available, but Siempre is best known for its Sunday Champagne Brunch, which presents a fabulous cornucopia of dishes, from custom omelets and Mexican specialties (like red or green chilaquiles) to a raw seafood bar and carving stations. The array of desserts at the Champagne Sunday Brunch is unrivaled in Los Cabos. A light jazz duo is on hand to serenade diners.

LaFrida

A new chef at LaFrida, the signature restaurant at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach named in honor of famed Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, has transformed the candlelit dining room into a showplace of Mexican cuisine. A perennial recipient of the AAA Four Diamond Award for excellence, the new menu at La Frida is daring and eclectic. The appetizers—Veracruz-style crab empanadas and Baja-style abalone taco, to name two—are exceptional, while the entrees take their cue from various regions of Mexico. Guest favorites include pan-seared sea bass with traditional “mole de olla” (ancho-guajillo chile broth); and a baked suckling pig served in black chichilo mole.

The Market at Quivira

This ingenious food hall at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach capitalizes on the traveling public’s desire to sample global cuisines and enticing dishes in an informal setting. Inspired by modern culinary establishments in New York and London, The Market, featuring an array of eateries, has brought an entirely new gastronomic experience to Los Cabos. The open-floor complex features a classic deli, regional Mexican cuisine, eclectic Asian fare, brick-oven pizzas, crepes (sweet or savory), organic salads, fine chocolates, and more. For U.S. visitors seeking the comfort foods of home, the top choice is The Market’s 1950’s-style diner, which serves hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, milk shakes, dessert and scrumptious breakfasts.

Cibola

Tucked within the clubhouse at Montecristo Estate Luxury Villas, a stylish Tuscan hideaway within Quivira Los Cabo, Cibola offers fresh regional cuisine to suit every taste. The Baja California-style shrimp taco, served tempura style, is delicious, as is the wrapped fish served with smoked potatoes, crustacean sauce and arugula sautéed with lemon. Desserts are highlighted by capirotada (pudding scented with banana and cinnamon) served with Damiana ice cream, which is made with an herbal-based Baja California liqueur reputed to be an aphrodisiac.
