Stand-Up Paddle Boarding in Los Cabos

It’s all the rage! Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), which strengthens the body’s core like few other activities, is now the fastest-growing water sport in the world. This is especially true in Los Cabos, where visitors can paddle a board on the calm waters of Cabo San Lucas Bay and get up close to some fascinating landmarks. It’s a fun way to experience being on the water—a great way to get a full-body workout.

CABO SUP. Featuring the only certified ASI (Academy of Stand-Up Paddle Board Instructors) in Los Cabos, this well-established club is perfect for those just getting started in the sport. The on-site partners of the Bahia Hotel and its affiliated SUR Beach House on Medano Beach, CABO SUP fronts one of the most beautiful, calm and pristine bodies of water in the region. Medano Beach, a two-mile-long crescent of sand and Cabo’s ever-popular “town beach,” provides easy access to El Arco, the famous Land’s End arch, and other prominent rock formations in the bay. CABO SUP offers free lessons with paddle board rental. No experience is necessary. After a safety tutorial and basic instruction on the beach, novices head out on the water to get acclimated and learn the basic paddle strokes. Once balance is established and elementary techniques are mastered, paddlers are free to explore the waters of the bay, which Jacques-Yves Cousteau once described as the “Aquarium of the World.” In addition to El Arco, adventurous paddlers can swing by Lovers Beach, Pelican Rock, Neptune’s Finger and the sea lion colony near Land’s End. CABO SUP maintains supervision and contact with paddlers at all times.  Wave runners are available to assist if any problems arise. English-speaking guided tours and bilingual instruction is available. Rental rates start at $25 USD per hour. Guided tour is $95 USD. Parking and lockers are provided with rentals. Bring a towel, hat and sunscreen. Everything else, including paddle board and life jacket, is included. http://cabosup.com/
