Quivira Los Cabos: An Instagrammer’s Paradise

Quivira Los Cabos: An Instagrammer’s Paradise

Say Cheese!  Photo opportunities for social media were the top reason one-fifth of millennials gave for choosing a vacation spot in a recent survey. In addition, two-thirds of those polled by JetCost said they wouldn't travel to a destination without photogenic appeal.

As a destination, Cabo’s cup runneth over when it comes to natural beauty. Its jewel in the crown is Quivira Los Cabos, a Land’s End hideaway surrounded by a mountain ridge, its rolling desert foothills dropping to the deep blue sea. Here are a few of our favorite Instagram hotspots within the resort community.

The After at Quivira. This hip, trendy, urban-themed sports bar at The Market has attracted a passionate following since its debut last fall. The contemporary interior-- large round brass chandeliers, illuminated globes, crescent-patterned Italian ceramic flooring, backlit glass bottles behind the bar—is a knockout, but it’s the large wraparound terrace offering fabulous ocean views that begs for a selfie. Especially at sunset. Phone battery on the blink?  Need to post right away? Complimentary wi-fi service is available in The After, as are cell phone chargers.

Cliffs Comfort Station. Looking for a good reason to take up golf? The Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Quivira Golf Club is off the charts for aesthetics. Tops among its breathtaking vantage points is the Cliffs Comfort Station behind the fifth tee, which is accessed via a winding cart path that traverses the face of a mountain and carries players to a dizzying perch 275 feet above the ocean. Players can savor delicious breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and refreshments, but no one takes a seat on the shaded stone patio. Even social media neophytes head directly to the wooden rail for a group shot with the sheer cliffs and frothing sea as a backdrop.

Sky Pool. In all of Los Cabos, there is perhaps no better place to ‘ooh and ahh’ over a lingering, technicolor sunset than the Sky Pool at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. Perched at the pinnacle of the resort’s terraced accommodations, the Sky Pool, a two-tiered infinity pool that crowns a bluff high above the beach, sits roughly 250 feet above sea level. With its ideal orientation to the west, it’s a perfect observation point for a postcard Cabo sunset, the fiery sun swallowed by the sea at day’s end, the sky flooded with brilliant rainbow colors. It’s an Instagram for the ages.

Beach. The glorious 1.5-mile stretch of pristine beach in front of the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and Sunset Beach resorts is a wonderful place for a stroll at any time of day. But early morning and late afternoon, when the sun is low in the sky, is a perfect time to capture a few ‘happy to be alive’ moments on the steep sandy embankment just steps away from the pounding surf. Just be sure to maintain a firm grip on your phone!
