Top Three Places to View a Sunset

Top Three Places to View a Sunset

Technically, sunset is the daily disappearance of the sun below the horizon due to the earth's rotation. A sunset creates unique atmospheric conditions—on a good day, intense rusty orange, rose pink, and violet sunrays illuminate the sky. But it’s so much more than that. The awe-inspiring beauty of the setting sun is also symbolic of the beauty and mystery of life itself.

In Cabo San Lucas, where clean air, low humidity, calm winds and a perfect orientation to the west make the tip of the Baja Peninsula one of the finest locations in the world to witness a sunset, there are three extra-special places worth finding.

Sky Pool. There is perhaps no better place in all of Los Cabos to observe a dazzling sunset than the Sky Pool at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort. Perched at the pinnacle of the sprawling resort’s terraced buildings, the Sky Pool, a two-tiered infinity pool that crowns a bluff above the beach, sits roughly 250 feet above sea level. It’s a perfect observation point for a postcard Cabo sunset, the flaming sun swallowed by the sea at day’s end. From the Sky Pool’s lofty height, Cabo’s legendary sunsets seems to linger just a little bit longer. It’s an Instagram post for the ages.

Sunset Monalisa. Described by Tribune International as the “5th Coolest Restaurant in the World,” Sunset Monalisa, located 10 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas, commands a rocky point with an unobstructed view of El Arco (the Arch) and Land’s End. Multi-level dining areas at this elegant establishment, one of the most romantic restaurants in Cabo, are terraced down to a rocky cliff high above the beach and sea. Patrons can enjoy a magnificent sunset while savoring innovative Mediterranean cuisine.  This “3 venues & 3 venues” complex also features the Ocean Terrace by Veuve Clicquot, a perfect place to relish Baja oysters and fine Champagne; and Sunset Point, a casual outlet serving pizzas, tapas and seafood. Same fantastic view.

Sunset Sail.  The water’s perspective is a unique vantage point for a majestic Cabo sunset. Cabo Adventures offers Luxury Sunset Sailing cruises aboard fully-equipped, French-made sailboats that depart from the marina located 10 minutes from Pueblo Bonito Resorts.  Receive a tall glass of champagne upon boarding and a friendly greeting from the captain and crew. Then lie back on soft deck cushions as the boat cruises over the bay’s calm waters to Land’s End. Inhale the salty breeze as the crew hoists the sails for a quiet cruise past the famous sea lion colony and along the breathtaking Cabo coastline. It’s an ideal way to observe the fiery sun paint the sky in a glorious palette of colors before sinking into the sea.
