Five Places to Shop in Los Cabos

The Christmas season is almost here and if you are looking for something special here’s our pick of the top shopping spots in Los Cabos.

Puerto Paraiso Mall

Fronting the marina in Cabo San Lucas, this enormous three-level, air-conditioned mall has more than 100 shops and businesses, several restaurants and art galleries, plus 10-theater cineplex. Name-brand stores range from Lacoste and L’Occitane to the Body Shop and Tommy Bahama. For jewelry with authentic Mexican flair, the Sergio Bustamante art gallery features silver- and gold-plated designs by the eponymous Mexican artist who uses the sun and the moon as elements in his creations.

Luxury Avenue at Puerto Paraiso

For high-end fashion brands, this trendy boutique mall set above the Cabo San Lucas marina is the place to go. Heading the list of top retailers are CH Caroline Herrera, Longchamp, Montblanc, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Swarovski. In addition, Port carries leading men’s brands such as Hugo Boss, Faconnable, and John Varvatos, while Ultrafemme is the place for fragrances—Chanel, Creed, Dior, Jo Malone, and Yves Saint Laurent, among others, carry the latest colognes and perfumes.

Plaza Bonita

Looking for one-stop shopping in downtown Cabo San Lucas a mere 10 minutes from Quivira Los Cabos? This shopping mall has an eclectic array of shops led by Ada’s Silver & Art, a family business that offers a great variety of objets d’art hand-made by craftsmen in Oaxaca and Guerrero. Arts from Oaxaca is known for its colorful textiles, Las Rocas carries hand-embroidered and woven items, while Dos Lunas is a good place to buy a hat, a visor or a tropical shirt. Plaza Bonita is also home to seven bars and 10 restaurants serving everything from Japanese fusion cuisine to B-B-Q ribs.

Plaza Artesanos

A fixture in San Jose del Cabo, Plaza Artesanos is located in the center of the historic colonial city opposite the landmark church on Boulevard Mijares. This open-air marketplace, open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, boasts approximately 75 vendors who display 100% hand-made Mexican pieces, including ceramics, rugs, hand-stitched dresses, silver objects, and decorative housewares. There is ample parking nearby.

Plaza del Pescador

Situated in the hotel zone of San Jose del Cabo, just a few steps from the Sea of Cortes and a short walk from the historic city center, Plaza del Pescador is a gathering place with a vibe all its own. Shops are led by Eclectic Array, a well-regarded outlet that sells hand-made, fair trade Mexican products ranging from straw hats and beaded items to beach blankets and beach bags. Home décor includes bedding, pillows, table cloths, lamp shades and headboards. Annual venue for the San Jose Jazz Weekend, Plaza del Pescador is home to a fitness club, a spa and nine dining outlets, including La Forchetta, a superb Italian restaurant.
